Argentina Public Hospital Discharge Statistics 2012

Public hospitals report inpatient discharge data to Argentina's Directorate of Health Statistics and Information using the hospital statistical reporting form (Informe Estadistíco Hospitalización, or IEH). The unit of analysis is a discharge from inpatient care; information collected via the IEH includes patient demographic information, primary and secondary diagnoses, procedures performed, length of stay, external cause of injury, and information on obstetrical events. Hospitals under the aegis of the armed forces have been reporting to the system since 2008; however, private facilities and those connected with national universities and the social work subsector do not report patient discharges via the IEH.
