This report provides numbers of deaths by cause (ICD-10) for Algeria in 2002. The study analyzed 13,358 deaths in 12 provinces (out of 48), based on data collected from death certificates received by the Ministry of Health and Population.

Per the World Bank's Global Burden of Disease classification, this report divided deaths into three groups: (1) communicable diseases, perinatal, maternal and nutritional conditions, (2) non-communicable diseases, and (3) injuries. Within these groups, tabulations of deaths are broken down by cause and by either sex or age groups.
