Summary 

Part of the third round MICS, the 2006 Algeria Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey was a nationally representative household survey with a focus on maternal and child health. The sampling frame was based on the 1998 Population and Housing Census, with a sample size of 29,478 households. The survey utilized three questionnaires:

  • A household questionnaire including modules for education, economic activity, water and sanitation, and housing  conditions.
  • A questionnaire for individual women aged 15-49 years covering topics such as marital status, tetanus toxoid vaccination, maternal care, contraceptive use, and health literacy.
  • A questionnaire given to mothers and caretakers of children under five years covering topics such as breastfeeding, immunization, and anthropometric measurements.
