Summary

The 2011-2012 National Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (NRVA) studied the needs and vulnerabilities of urban, rural and nomadic populations (Kuchi) in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan. The survey utilized a two-stage cluster sampling method. Questionnaires were administered at the shura and household level (except for market data collected at the district level). The survey collected data from 20,828 households. Topics included household consumption of food and other items, agricultural activities, maternal and child health, and coping strategies to shocks, such as natural disasters.
