Summary

Part of MICS2, the Afghanistan Multiple Cluster Indicator Survey 2003 covers a variety of topics relating to the situation of children and women, covering health, education, vaccination, contraceptive use, and symptoms like diarrhea, cough, and fever. The survey used the 1979 Population Census as a sampling frame. The data provides national estimates for both urban and rural areas separately, as well as for 32 provinces, 6 rural provinces and 6 major cities, and metropolitan areas and provincial towns nationally. Information was collected with a household questionnaire that collected basic demograhic information on members of the household and included modules focusing on children under five, children 5-17 years old, and ever-married women.
