Summary

The data gathered in this survey are used to assess anti-malarial interventions in the local government areas (LGAs) of Nigeria. 6,818 households, including heads of household and 5,770 women ages 15-49, were interviewed. Children under the age of five and eligible women were tested for malaria and anemia, and had their anthropometric measurements taken for evaluation of baseline nutritional status. A multi-stage cluster sampling method was used, with one stage at the LGA level and the second at the household level. The survey is one tool for measuring progress towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Nigeria; established in the year 2000 by the United Nations Millennium Summit, MDGs are a series of development goals pertaining to education, the environment and global partnerships for development, gender equality, health, and poverty.
