Tropical Pesticides Research Institute (TPRI) (Tanzania)

The Tropical Pesticides Research Institute (TPRI) originated under colonial government and was formerly known as Colonial Insecticides Research Unit. In the past, TPRI worked under the East Africa Common Services Organization (EACSO) and East Africa Community (EAC). Presently, TPRI works under the Tanzania Government through Parliament Act No. 18 of 1979.

TPRI researches tropical pests that impact plants, livestock and human health. Early research was concentrated on the control of mosquitoes and tsetse flies. More current research is focused on weeds, plant diseases, schistosomiasis, cattle ticks, rodents, pesticides toxicology, and environmental pollution.
