It utilized household and individual questionnaires on the following seven topics: nutrition, health examination, adult health behavior, health services utilization, adult morbidity, injuries and poisonings, and quality of life. Out of 10,816 people surveyed, 7,597 participants completed a health examination. This part of the survey included blood tests, urine tests, and measurements of height, weight, and waist circumference. The nutrition survey consisted of three individual questionnaires on diet, food frequency, and food intake with 24-hour recall. The KNHANES began in 1998. Since 2007, it has occurred on an annual basis.
