The Yearbook contains statistical data on materials and minerals such as production, consumption, imports, and exports. Entries for each commodity also include information on economic and technical trends and development. Three volumes are issued each year: Volume I, Metals and Minerals; Volume II, Area Reports (Domestic); and Volume III, Area Reports (International). Data sources include published reports of foreign government mineral and statistical agencies, the United States Department of State, the United Nations, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, and personal contacts. All minerals information publications from 1996 to the present are available to view or download from the United States Geological Survey website.
