Summary 

The Arab Libyan Maternal and Child Health Survey, which was conducted as part of the PAPCHILD project, was a nationally representative survey covering 6,707 households, and 5,348 children under 5. Anthropometric measurements were taken for approximately 85% of the children. The survey included questionnaires for the household, women and children; it also included a community questionnaire covering health facilities, equipment, services and personnel. Topics included fertility preferences and contraceptive use, causes of childhood death (through a "verbal autopsy" component - questions on symptoms before death), breastfeeding and other food given to children, childhood illness and accidents, immunization, and demographic characteristics.
