Summary 

Part of the third round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey, the 2005 Albania MICS was a nationally representative survey designed to provide indicators concerning the health of women and children. Interviews were completed with 5,150 households, 5,091 women aged 15-49 years, and the mothers/caretakers of 1093 children under the age of five. Three questionnaires were used in the survey:

  • A household questionnaire that included modules covering education, water and sanitation, child labor, child discipline, disability, and salt iodization. 
  • A questionnaire for individual women aged 15-49 years covering child mortality, tetanus toxoid vaccination, maternal health, marriage, contraception, and health literacy. 
  • A questionnaire concerning children under age five included modules on birth registration, child development, vitamin A supplements, breastfeeding, health care use, immunization, and anthropometry.
