Summary

The Kenya - West Pokot District Integrated Nutrition and Food Security Survey 2011 assessed malnutrition (children aged 6-59 months and caregivers 15-49 years); food insecurity; vaccination, vitamin A supplementation, and deworming coverage; morbidity in children under 5; child and infant care and feeding practices; water and hygiene; and anthropometry.

The survey applied the standard methodology and assessment tools recommended by the Kenya Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and Ministry of Medical Services. SMART sampling methodology was used.

The sample included 490 households assessed for nutrition, health, water and sanitation, and food security. In these households, 917 children 6-59 months and 461 caregivers 15-49 years had their nutritional status assessed. Retrospective crude and under-five mortality (90 day recall) was collected from 601 households.
