Summary 

The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is a primary source of information on the health of the population of the United States. The NHIS is a cross-sectional household interview survey that is fielded continuously throughout the year. The interviewed sample for the 2010 NHIS consisted of 34,329 households, yielding 89,976 persons in 35,177 families.

The 2010 NHIS covered a wide variety of topics, such as family composition, socio-demographic characteristics, injuries, health care access and utilization, health insurance, income and assets, health conditions, health behaviors, physical activity. The survey included supplementary sections on cancer, occupational health, epilepsy, child mental health, and immunization.
