Taken together, the submissions provide the foundation for the UN Secretary-General's report to the General Assembly on the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. Each country progress report contains a section on the status of the epidemic in that country for the two-year period, with figures on topics such as the number of HIV tests that have been received, the number of new cases reported, and the number of AIDS-related deaths.
