Summary

This is part of the 2015 Annual Report of the National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN), published as a special issue of Birth Defects Research Part A: Clinical and Molecular Teratology (Volume 103, Issue 11). This Brief Report and supplemental materials report state-specific information from 41 participating population-based registries on prevalence numbers for 47 congenital anomalies from January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2012. The report also highlights the variability in prevalence estimates across population-based birth defects programs and contains a list of reported birth defects by disease classification code (ICD-9-CM and CDC/BPA). A directory of state birth defects surveillance programs identifying their data collection, surveillance methodology, and contacts is included in the supplemental materials.
