The Tanzania In Depth DHS, focused on child and maternal mortality in the Mwanza region of Tanzania. The survey was conducted in 2 phases. For phase I, 2,130 women age 15-50 were successfully interviewed from 1,488 households. For phase II, 2,123 sisters of the phase I respondents were successfully interviewed. The phase I sample is representative of women age 15-50 in the Mwanza region, while the phase II sample is not representative of women in the area.
