Summary

The United States National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health, or Add Health, was previously known as the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Begun in 1994, the study follows a nationally representative sample of adolescents into adulthood. Topics covered in each wave of the Add Health study typically include health and wellbeing, social and family relationships, education, employment, marriage, childbearing history, nutrition, sexual behavior and life style risk factors such as involvement in delinquent or violent behavior. Starting in Wave III, the study introduced the collection of biological data with saliva and urine samples. Blood tests, anthropometric and biological measurements were added to the biological data collection component of the study with Wave IV.
