Data were collected through four questionnaires covering specific topics or groups: household, women, men, and nutrition. Anthropometric measurements were recorded for all female participants and children under 5. Further anemia tests were conducted with female participants and children ages 6-59 months.

The sample was based on the 2011 Population and Housing Census and drew from both urban and rural areas of Samoa. A total of 5,319 women ages 15-49 years and 2,025 men ages 15-54 were canvassed from 4,171 households.
