Summary 

The purpose of this study was to gather data on the nutritional status, physical activity level, and socioeconomic situations within the population of Turkey in order to plan programs and develop indicators.

The data were collected through interviews, anthropometric measurements, blood samples, urine samples, physical exams, and a 24-hour household food consumption diary. The questionnaires included one on the household, one on children ages 5-11 years, one on children ages 6-11 years, and one on household members ages 12 years and older. The questionnaires focused on the themes of physical activity, food consumption, and sociodemographics. Height and weight were taken from all household members. Blood and urine samples were collected from members ages 6 and older. Persons ages 18 years and older underwent a physical exam.

The sample size for this survey was 19,056 households.
