The Malawi 2012 MIS was conducted as part of Phase 6 of the DHS series. A total household sample size of 3,500 was used. A total of 2,906 women between the age of 15 and 49 years were included in the sample. There were no male respondents. Blood tests for anemia and malaria were done for children age 6 to 59 months using a finger prick blood sample.

A total of three questionaires were used, one for households, one for women and one for biomarkers. PDAs were used to collect data.
