Summary

The 2006-2007 HIES was administered to a 25% sample of the 2006 Great Integrated Household Survey. 50,690 households were visited, 42,733 provided some information, and 35,998 completed the survey. A single questionnaire was used for both surveys, but three additional questionnaires on household and individual expenditures were used for the income and expenditure survey.

The survey covered 24 major cities and rural areas. The cities included in the survey were Armenia, Barranquilla, Bogotá D.C., Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Cucutá, Florencia, Ibagué, Manizales, Medellín, Montería, Neiva, Pasto, Pereira, Popayán, Quibdó, Riohacha, San Andrés, Santa Marta, Sincelejo, Tunja, Valledupar y Villavicencio. The survey did not cover old national territories (the departments of Amazonas, Arauca, Casanare, Guainía, Guaviare, Putumayo, Vaupés, and Vichada), which are equivalent to approximately 4% of the population.
