This Special Bulletin provides data from the fourth survey of the maternal mortality in India series. The first table covers the sample female population, live births, maternal deaths, maternal mortality ratio (MMR), 95% confidence interval (CI), maternal mortality rate, and lifetime risk rate. Total triennial figures are given for the country, regions, and states/union territories. The second table shows the distribution of maternal and non-maternal deaths among different age groups between 15 and 49. A map is included to provide an overview of MMR along with 95% CI among the states of India.
