General Info
The Health Survey for England (HSE) 2011 was the twenty-first in the series of annual surveys conducted in private households since 1994. The primary focus of the 2011 survey was cardiovascular disease and two associated conditions, hypertension and diabetes.
The questionnaire included modules on general health, alcohol consumption, smoking, fruit and vegetable consumption, cardiovascular disease, chronic pain, and dental health. The HSE 2011 included a new module for older adults about provision of informal care and questions for all adults about social care. The survey also provided the following objective measures of health: blood pressure, anthropometric measurements, and analysis of saliva and blood samples.
A total of 8,610 adults and 2,007 children were successfully interviewed, while nurse visits were conducted among 5,715 adults and 1,257 children.
