The South Korea Patient Survey 2009 collected inpatient and outpatient data from 6,978 medical institutions. Questionnaires addressed patient diagnosis, surgeries, length of stay, treatment outcomes, drug prescriptions, and methods of medical payment. An additional questionnaire gathered information on the number and type of medical personnel and institutions, beds, and medical equipment. The survey data were collected on a quarterly basis.

The report includes tabulations on discharges and outpatient visits by sex, 5-year age group, and disease. It also provides numbers of surgery patients by sex, 5-year age group, and surgery type.
