Summary
The WHO Multi-country Survey Study (MCSS) was carried out in 61 countries from 2000 to 2001. The study was an exercise in developing research instruments for assessing the health of individuals, adult mortality, health system responsiveness, and household health care expenditures. The survey modes, which varied from country to country, included in-person individual interviews, telephone surveys, and mail surveys.
In Egypt, a sample size of 5,000 respondents was selected and approved for the household survey by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). 4,486 people were successfully interviewed. For the postal survey, the sample size was 3,000 respondents, and 2,771 were successfully interviewed.
