The Japan Population Census 1950 covered topics of education, employment, household size, and housing conditions. As of October 1, 1950, the total population of Japan was 84,114,574. Large-scale censuses (like the 1950 census) are conducted every ten years in Japan, and simplified censuses occur every 5 years after a large-scale census.

The report includes tabulations from a Ten Percent Sample on the following subjects: sex, age, marital status, nationality, occupations and industry.
