Summary
This annual bulletin of vital statistics publishes the number of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces for 2008. The report provides tabulations for live births by sex, birth month, and region for all Libyans, and distribution of deaths by sex, age group, and cause of death by major disease group.
Data on births and deaths are obtained from the civil register offices in each region (shabia). Information on marriages and divorces are provided by civil records offices, which collect the documents from the local courts.
