This annual bulletin of vital statistics publishes the number of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces for 2006. Comprehensive tabulations detail live births by sex, birth month, and region for all Libyans. The distribution of deaths is displayed by sex, age group, and cause of death by major disease group. Additional tables of deaths are broken down by occupation, region, and other variables. Population numbers are available for the years 1991-2006.

Data on births and deaths are obtained from the civil register offices in each region (shabia). Information on marriages and divorces are provided by civil records offices, which collect the documents from the local courts.
