Summary 

The Nairobi Urban Health and Demographic Surveillance System (NUHDSS) was established in 2002, covering two slum communities within the city, Korogocho and Viwandani. For select households, the system records pregnancies, births, deaths, morbidity, migration, vaccination status, and demographic information. NUHDSS is a member of the INDEPTH network and it utilizes verbal autopsy instruments.
