Summary
The 1974 Japan National Fertility Survey (JFS) was conducted as part of the World Fertility Survey (WFS) project, whose purpose was to gather current fertility information for assessment. The data were collected from married women under age 50 with two questionnaires. A total of 2,860 women were interviewed with the first questionnaire. The second questionnaire was mailed and self-completed by 2,472 women. The questionnaires covered the topics of marital status, birth history, and family planning.
