Summary
The Disease Surveillance Points (DSP) 1995 contains mortality and morbidity data for China. The data are broken down by age, sex, and cause of death (with ICD-9 codes), and tabulations are also divided into urban and rural categories. Surveillance occured at 145 voluntary sites in urban and rural areas. In 1995, the DSP covered a population of 9,048,572 people and 47,586 deaths were reported. The adjusted death rate was 608.68 per 100,000 people. In total, 36,670 deaths were attributed to non-communicable diseases, 5,037 deaths were attributed to injuries, and 3,798 deaths were attributed to communicable, perinatal and maternal diseases.
