Summary

The Nutrition Assessment 2002 for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea measured the prevalence of malnutrition among children and mothers. The assessment surveyed 6,000 children and 2,795 mothers from seven provinces and three cities in North Korea. It did not include residents in the Chagang and Kangwon provinces. Surveyors measured the height and weight of children and mid-upper arm circumferences (MUAC) of mothers. A subsample of the mothers (25%) agreed to blood tests for anemia.
