The Fertility and Family Surveys (FFS) were conducted in 23 United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region countries from 1989 to 1999. The template survey includes 10 core and 4 optional modules. Topics include household characteristics, partnerships, fertility, and use of contraception. Each country developed a unique questionnaire derived from the standardized template. Sampling and data collection varied across the participating countries. The Hungary FFS was nationally representative by age, sex, and place of residence. Questionnaires were completed with 3,554 females (age 18 to 41 years) and 1, 919 males (age 20 to 44 years).
