United States Health Care Spending by Health Condition and County 2010-2019
General Info
The Disease Expenditure Project (DEX) at IHME produced estimates for US spending on health care across 3,110 US counties by health condition, payer type, age group, and type of care for 2010 through 2019. Tupes of care include ambulatory care, dental care, emergency department care, home health care, inpatient care, nursing facility care, and retail pharmaceutical care. This study compiles data from over 40 billion insurance claims and nearly 1 billion facility records, tracking spending across Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and out-of-pocket payments.
These publicly available estimates can be explored using the US Health Spending visualization. This dataset contains both the full estimates as well as tables for the aggregate health categories.
