Belgium Fertility and Family Survey 1991-1992
General Info
The Fertility and Family Surveys (FFS) were conducted in 23 United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region countries from 1989 to 1999. The template survey includes 10 core and 4 optional modules. Topics include household characteristics, partnerships, fertility, and use of contraception. Each country developed a unique questionnaire derived from a standard template. Sampling and data collection varied across the participating countries. In Belgium, The Center for Population and Family Studies (CBGS) was responsible for conducting the FFS survey. The survey, also known as the CBGS 5th fertility and family survey (NEGO V), consists of 2 investigations: 1 in the Flemish Region (2 samples) and 1 in the Brussels Capital Region (8 samples). A total of 2,897 women and 1,878 men between the ages of 21 and 40 years were interviewed. The structure of the Belgian FFS questionnaire differs from the template significantly, but most standard recode file (SRF) variables could be reconstructed.
