United States NHANES Epidemiological Followup Study 1986
General Info
The NHANES Epidemiologic Followup Study (NHANES EFS) was a national longitudinal study designed to investigate the relationships between clinical, nutritional, and behavioral factors assessed in the 1971-1975 National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES I). The 1986 NHANES EFS was the second of four waves in the survey. The NHANES EFS tracked morbidity, mortality, and hospital utilization, as well as changes in risk factors, functional limitation, and institutionalization. The 1986 NHANES EFS was conducted for members of the cohort who were 55-74 at their baseline examination and not known to be deceased during the 1982-1984 wave.
