Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. Bahrain has been conducting censuses regularly since 1941. In 2010 census data was collected from 300 government databases including the central population registry database. This data was collected on the reference date of April 27, 2010. Information that could not be obtained from databases, such as housing characteristics, education attainment, and disabilities, was then collected through a household sample survey administered to a sample of 15,000 private and collective households. The survey was conducted from May 3 to June 10, 2010.
