Summary 

Beginning in 1998, the Survey of Household Spending, or SHS, replaced both the Family Expenditure Survey and the Household Facilities and Equipment Survey.

For this year data was collected in the beginning of 2002 for the reference period of 2001 and the sample was 22,172 households.

Institutional populations, residents of Indian reservations, and official representatives of foreign countries were excluded from the survey.

Statistics Canada provides a public use microdata file.
