Summary
The object of the 2002 Nepal Behavioral and Seroprevalence Survey was to estimate the prevalence rates of HIV among illicit drug users (IDUs) and assess their role in the transmission of HIV. Questionnaires were used to collect data on behavior relating to drug injections, syringe sharing, and sexual behavior. The study was conducted in the four municipalities of the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts, sampling 303 IDUs from 20 randomly selected sites.
