Summary

The International Mortality and Smoking Statistics (IMASS) database contains international estimates of smoking prevalence, tobacco consumption, and mortality from four smoking-related diseases (lung cancer, ischemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and non-acute respiratory diseases). The IMASS database includes a corresponding database, the International Smoking Statistics (ISS), that provides the smoking prevalence and tobacco consumption estimates. Smoking and tobacco data are drawn from sales-based sources and survey-based sources. Data are tabulated by 5-year age groups and sex in 5-year periods.

IMASS Version 4.04 was released March 18, 2009.
