Summary 

This database contains patient-level hospital discharge data with information on causes of hospitalization, including both primary and secondary diagnoses. In the case of injuries, information is given on both nature and external cause of the injury. Additional variables include health service region and region of residence of the patient, as well as demographic information such as patient age and sex. Data come from the Statistical Reporting of Hospital Discharges (Informe Estadístico de Egreso Hospitalario), which is compulsory for all health facilities in the country.
