Summary
This is the first consumer expenditure survey, abbreviated as POF, to be conducted nationally in Brazil. The first two surveys of the series (1987-1988 and 1995-1996) only covered metropolitan areas of the country. Data on expenditures, income, housing, and household demographics was obtained through an expenditure diary, a household expenditure questionnaire, individual expenditure and income questionnaires, a short housing and household roster questionnaire, and a living conditions questionnaire.
