The purpose of this survey was to investigate the living conditions, personal characteristics, family structures, and education level, labor climate, mortality, and fertility of the Cuban population in all provinces in the nation.

The data were gathered through in-person interviews in the home. The main sections of the questionnaire were housing, individual household member characteristics, education level of persons 6 years and older, the economic situation and marital status of persons 14 years and older, migration of persons 19 years and older, and fertility of women ages 14 years and older.
