Sri Lanka Indoor Morbidity and Mortality Return 2014
General Info
The Indoor Morbidity and Mortality Return (IMMR) collects hospital data from each government hospital throughout the country. Data is compiled annually by staff of the Medical Statistics Unit (MSU), a sector of the Ministry of Health. Morbidity and mortality data are collected quarterly from all government hospitals, with the exception of Primary Health Care Units and Maternity Homes, and are classified under ICD-10.
Individual patients with repeat visits, hospital transfers, or multiple admissions for the same disease are reflected in the morbidity data as additional cases. Outpatient data are not routinely collected or reported in the IMMR.
For 2014, there were 6,073,053 live discharges and 47,417 deaths recorded in government hospitals for the IMMR.
