Turkey Demographic and Health Survey 2008
General Info
The 2008 Turkey Demographic and Health Survey (TDHS) was financed by the Republic of Turkey through The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). The survey was based on the international Macro DHS model questionnaires and those used in previous Turkish health surveys. Ensuring comparability with previous TDHS findings was a goal. Participants were chosen using a weighted, multi-stage, stratified cluster sampling approach. A household questionnaire included sections on housing, never-married women ages 15-49, and elderly welfare. An individual questionnaire for ever-married women ages 15-49 asked questions about fertility, contraceptive knowledge and practice, mother and child health, and nutritional status of children under age 5.
