Costa Rica National Population and Housing Census 1963 - IPUMS
General Info
Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1963 Costa Rica de jure census collected data through face-to-face interviews on housing, household demographics, employment for individuals 12 and older, education for those 7 and older, and migration. In addition to the population and housing questionnaires, an agricultural questionnaire was administered to those who owned or rented land. The census day was March 31, 1963 but fieldwork continued after this day. A 6% sample of persons from the census (82,345 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings, vacant units, and households are not available in the microdata sample. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
