Summary 

The Nutrition and Child Survival Survey conducted in 2014 examined the nutritional status and survival of children in Niger. It also assessed the estimated prevalence of severe and chronic malnutrition, and estimated the gross mortality rate of children. The survey used the Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transitions (SMART) methodology to collect data. Data collected included anthropometric measurements, household characteristics, household mortality, and presence of bilateral edema. The survey also analyzed samples of iodized salt from households. The sample included a total of 16,457 children under-5 from 14,534 households.
