Summary
The 2016 Iran Population and Housing Census was conducted by the Statistical Centre of Iran and consisted of two surveys: an online questionnaire that was available September-October and a face-to-face interview conducted October-November. The total population at the time of the census was 79,926,270, including 39,427,828 females and 40,498,442 males.
The aim of the census was to provide detailed information regarding population, households, housing conditions, and literacy.
