Summary 
The purpose of the study was to provide data on sexual abuse and other types of violence on South African children, including neglect, physical and emotional abuse, and exposure to family violence.  The data were collected from adolescents ages 15 to 17 using a school and household population survey, as well as in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.
 
A total of 4,086 participants were recruited for the school survey and 5,631 participants were recruited for the household survey.  The number of interviews included 37 social worker focus groups, 31 supervisor interviews, and two director interviews.
