Summary

The Azerbaijan Maternal and Child Health Survey was executed in 2000. It collected data concerning the maternal and child health (MCH) programming in Azerbaijan as conducted by Save the Children, specifically the principal foci of MCH: expanded programs in immunization and reproductive health. The survey methodologies and design were influenced by a 1999 survey by Medicines sans Frontieres-Holland. The survey was conducted in Barda, Goranboy, and Xanlar.

Questionnaires were designed to collect data from two groups of the overall sample: women who were pregnant or with children under 2 months of age, and women who were not pregnant and with children ages 2 months to 6 years. The former group was surveyed using a household questionnaire while the latter were surveyed through an exit interview. To aid with data comparison, several questions across both surveys were identical or similar. A total of 279 pregnant women and 583 non-pregnant were surveyed for a total of 862 respondents.
